Yes, We Have Solar Options

Algae, cyanobacteria (blue-green algae), and biofilm do not care where your electrical panel is located.

At WEFTEC, one of the water industry’s largest trade shows, a customer stopped by our booth and told us that now that we offered solar, he wanted to get SonicPure equipment to fix his algae problem. He thought solar was new for us. It isn’t. Solar has been part of the SonicPure lineup for some time. Clearly, though, not everyone knows we offer solar power options.

The optimal locations for your Pulsars may be hundreds of feet from the nearest electrical source, and some sites have no grid power at all. Continuous, chemical-free algae control shouldn’t depend on where your outlet is. Rather than letting existing electrical infrastructure limit your options, SonicPure offers several ways to power the Pulsar 4400 so the Pulsars can operate where they’re actually needed. At only about 30 watts per Pulsar, the system is well suited to solar power.

Three Primary Ways to Power the Pulsar 4400

Each power option is built around the Pulsar 4400 and runs 24/7. We’ll help you choose the one that works best for your site.

“Pulsar placement should be driven by where coverage is needed, not by where the nearest outlet happens to be.”

What the Pulsar 4400 Does

‍

Whichever power option a site uses, the Pulsar 4400 does the same job. It combats active algae blooms and suppresses future ones, without chemicals. Approximately 4,400 targeted ultrasonic frequencies control cyanobacteria (blue-green algae), green algae, golden algae, and dinoflagellates while also preventing biofilm formation. In tanks, basins, and clarifiers, it controls biofilm and biological growth, including walls, weirs, and launders.

Customers see results in as little as one week, with proven cyanobacteria reductions of over 90%. SonicPure ultrasound is safe for people, pets, fish, birds, wildlife, zooplankton, and aquatic plants. There are no chemicals or copper buildup, no toxin spike, and recurring algae treatment costs are reduced or eliminated. SonicPure ultrasonic technology is proven at 1,000+ installations worldwide; see the results on our case studies page.

AC Power Hub: When Grid Power Is Close Enough

‍

If grid power is available within 200 meters, about 650 feet, of the recommended Pulsar locations, the AC Power Hub is usually the simplest setup. The Power Hub mounts on shore and plugs into a standard electrical outlet. It converts AC power to DC and sends it to the Pulsar through a submersible power cable. Single- and dual-Pulsar configurations are available, making AC a natural fit for treatment plants, clarifiers, basins, ponds, and other sites where electrical service is already reasonably close.

The key issue is distance. A facility may have plenty of power on the property, but if a recommended Pulsar location is more than 200 meters from the available power source, extending power or compromising the recommended Pulsar location may not make sense. The solar options give us other ways to power Pulsars wherever coverage is needed.

Shoreline Solar: Off-Grid Power from the Shore

‍

Some sites are remote, with no power anywhere nearby. At others, extending electrical service to the Pulsar location isn’t practical, or solar is simply the preferred choice. Shoreline Solar covers all three. The system installs on shore, close to where the Pulsar needs to operate. The solar panel, charge controller, and power equipment stay on land, while one or two Pulsars are deployed in the water.

Each Pulsar can be located up to 200 meters from the Shoreline Solar system. For remote ponds, reservoirs, lagoons, and other water bodies, this can eliminate the need to trench or run electrical service to the shoreline.

Sentinel AIQ: Put the Power on the Water

For some applications, even a shore-based solar system is not the best answer. The areas that need coverage may be far from shore, shoreline access may be limited, or running a long power cable simply may not make sense.

Sentinel AIQ puts the solar power system directly on the water. The solar panel and power equipment are integrated into the floating platform, with a single Pulsar suspended below it. Because the power source is on the water with the Pulsar, Sentinel is not constrained by the 200-meter shore-to-Pulsar power-cable limit. Sentinel AIQ also provides system-performance monitoring, while Sentinel AIQ+ adds real-time water-quality monitoring.

Mix and Match Power Across a Larger Site

Large lakes, reservoirs, lagoons, and multi-basin facilities do not have to use one power configuration everywhere. A Pulsar near existing electrical service may run from an AC Power Hub, another area of the site may use Shoreline Solar, and a more remote area may be better served by Sentinel AIQ.

Using different power options across the same site lets us build the power setup around your algae and biofilm challenges, rather than around where power happens to be available. On a larger water body, the best solution may be a combination of AC, Shoreline Solar, and Sentinel systems positioned around the site to achieve optimal coverage.

Don’t Let Grid Access Hold Back Your Algae and Biofilm Control

Lack of convenient grid power does not take continuous ultrasound off the table. SonicPure can power the Pulsar 4400 from the grid, from shore-mounted solar, or from an on-water solar platform. Every power option is also available to rent (available in US only). For sites that already have their own solar power, a Solar Ready configuration is also available on request for customers supplying and integrating their own solar source.

Whichever power option fits your site, the same Pulsar 4400 provides continuous, chemical-free control of algae, cyanobacteria, and biofilm, operating 24/7 with 360° coverage. It’s easy to install, with 90% of customers doing it in under 30 minutes, and low maintenance, at just 5–10 minutes per unit every 2–4 weeks. Telemetry hardware is built in, and with an IQCloud subscription you always know your Pulsar is running and performing.

Whatever power is available at your site, we’ll work with you to find the right setup to combat algae, cyanobacteria, and biofilm.
