Overview

Nestled in Palm Desert, California, the Stone Eagle Golf Club Homeowners Association faced a serious algae challenge in a pond surrounded by multi-million-dollar homes. SonicPure was contacted in March 2024 to help restore clarity and ecological balance without chemicals. After identifying Lyngbya, a toxic blue-green algae species capable of producing skin irritants and harmful cyanotoxins, the team installed two Pulsar 4400 ultrasonic units. Within three months, the once-polluted pond was restored to clear, healthy water—without a single drop of copper sulfate

The Challenge

The HOA had struggled for months with recurring Lyngbya blooms that blanketed the pond’s surface. Repeated copper-sulfate treatments failed to deliver results, while rising desert temperatures only worsened the outbreak. The algae’s dense mats emitted foul odors, threatened water quality, and posed potential health risks to residents, pets, and wildlife. With aesthetics, safety, and property values on the line, Stone Eagle sought a sustainable, chemical-free solution that could provide consistent, long-term algae control even through the heat of a California summer

The installation of the Pulsar proved to be a turning point for Stone Eagle Golf Club’s HOA. Operating continuously, the dual units emitted over 4,000 precise frequencies that disrupted Lyngbya’s cellular processes, preventing photosynthesis and reproduction without harming fish, plants, or beneficial bacteria. The algae mats that had once blanketed the pond began to dissipate within weeks, and by the third month, the water was visibly clearer and odor-free—even through the desert’s intense summer heat.

The HOA was particularly impressed by the system’s reliability and low maintenance. The units required no chemicals, manual dosing, or complicated upkeep—just consistent, autonomous operation powered by clean technology. Residents immediately noticed the difference in appearance and smell, and the surrounding ecosystem began to rebalance naturally.

Encouraged by the success, General Manager Rob Blackburn stated, “The system is clearly working.” Based on these results, the HOA now plans to expand the ultrasonic program to additional ponds throughout the property, further reducing chemical dependence and ensuring long-term protection of Stone Eagle’s pristine environment.

”As you can see from the pictures, the algae is retreating and the lake is almost clear. During the same period, temperatures were rising which normally makes the algae much worse. The Pulsar was installed on the HOA pond...and the system is clearly working....  Rob Blackburn intends to install more units it in the lower lakes along Stone Eagle Drive as well.”

This project demonstrates how SonicPure's Pulsar 4400 provides an effective, sustainable, and cost-efficient solution for high-end communities seeking lasting relief from harmful algae—without compromising water quality, aesthetics, or environmental health.
